Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect at my first meeting or ritual?
Our meetings are relaxed, casual, and conversational. You’ll be expected to introduce yourself, and that’s it! We discuss magic, myth, and practice, perform relaxed monthly magics, and share about our lives. You’re welcome to come alone, or to bring your emotional support buddy - or deity, if you like.
Our rituals are modular and creative - no two are ever exactly alike. If you see something you don’t understand, ask! If you have something to share, we want to hear it! If you’re feeling lost, find your nearest new friend and ask for advice - our more experienced members are happy to show you what to do next.
Do I have to be Pagan to visit?
Nope - in fact, some of our oldest members aren’t Pagan at all. Many Paths welcomes all practices and traditions - the fabric our CUUPS chapter is woven from many colors, textures, and origins. The only traditions we don’t tolerate are traditions which don’t tolerate others. Whether you’re on a strange and unknown path, a familiar and well-tested road, or still figuring out what’s right for you, you’re welcome here.
This chapter practices active spellwork, ritual, and magiccraft according to a number of beliefs and practices. You’re welcome to join the fun, no matter what you believe. The only practice Many Paths doesn’t allow is intolerance.
Do I have to join the UU church to join CUUPS?
No. Although the Many Paths Council and leadership must be members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington-Normal, visitors and members are only required to arrive as they are.
Is Many Paths a coven?
Many Paths is not a coven, although some of our members are also members of covens nearby. Many Paths is a CUUPS chapter associated with the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans and is not affiliated with any one spiritual belief or practice. If you’re not sure, you’re in the right place.
What about boundaries?
Your boundaries are your own. If your practice is personal to you, you aren’t required to share. If you’re uncomfortable during an event, feel free to step outside for a breath of fresh air. If you’d like to join a ritual, but don’t like a section, just jump back in when you’re ready. The water is warm, and we’re ready to swim!
Are meeting spaces accessible?
Many Paths hosts most rituals, workshops, and monthly meetings in the Fell Room at UUBN. This space is accessible to all.
Is there a cost to join?
Monthly meetings and community rituals are free to attend. But you’re welcome to bring a dish for the potluck!
Some workshops do require registration for cost of materials.
